Meeting the Moment: Cambridge, MA

Every conversation holds the opportunity for authentic expression and connection

But this can be challenging when…

* you feel disconnected from your body

* you become overly analytical

* you’re too focused on how you’re being perceived

What if instead…

* your body felt grounded and at ease

* your mind was clear and centered

* you were able to be present and available to those you communicate with

Imagine...

*showing up for a date feeling at ease with expressing your authentic self

*sitting down for an interview feeling empowered to communicate with clarity

*speaking up in a meeting without worrying you might say the wrong thing

Join me and Emily Jeanne Brown / OnVoice Coaching & Consulting for ‘Meeting the Moment’, an in-person workshop on confident interpersonal communication, IN-PERSON in Cambridge, MA.

what are the Yamas and Niyamas?

the concept of the Yamas and Niyamas was first documented in
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali which is essentially an instruction manual on how to live a yogic lifestyle and reach enlightenment.

The steps for this path to enlightenment are known as the 8 limbs of yoga.

The first 2 limbs of the 8 limbs of yoga are the Yamas and Niyamas.

The Yamas and Niyamas are the foundation for a life as a yogi.
They are essentially guidelines on how to live a life that promotes peace, ease and authenticity.

THE YAMAS
Ahimsa: non-harming/non violence
Satya: truthfulness/honesty
Asteya: non-stealing
Brahmacharya: right use of energy
Aparigraha: non-greed/non-hoarding

THE NIYAMAS
Saucha: purity/cleanliness

Your Mindful Morning

Do you start each day by:

👁looking at your phone

👁getting sucked into the chaotic energy of the news and social media and other people’s lives

👁then go straight into 8 hours of working

👁only to end the day watching tv

👁falling asleep

👁and then doing it all again the next day?

Many of us live some version of this.

What if instead of starting your day getting sucked into the outside world

🌀you started the day by going into your inner world

🌀checking in with yourself

🌀and setting an intention for how you would like to show up for your life?

What if you started your day so anchored in mindful presence that you were able to:

🌀respond to the events of your life instead of automatically reacting?

🌀face every day stressors with greater skill and ease?

🌀take moments to just pause and appreciate the present moment without feeling like you should be doing something else?

I could write paragraphs here about the the degrees of peace and joy that opened up to me when I committed to a morning practice.

A morning practice that included

✨practicing presence

✨an honest check in with my body/mind/spirit

✨dropping the merry-go-ground of busy thoughts and dropping into the wisdom of my body

In my new workshop Your Mindful Morning I’m going to share with you the elements that make up my own morning practice and show you how to design a mindful morning practice that aligns with your values and fits in your schedule (you can customize it to be just 10 minutes or as long as 2 hours if you’d like!)

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  1. The benefits of a daily embodied mindfulness practice

  2. how to embody your daily intention

  3. the elements of a well-rounded embodied morning mindfulness practice

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

  1. guided journaling to help you design your personalized morning practice

  2. slow yin-style yoga to slow down the mind and drop into the body

  3. mindful breath and meditation to practice presence

WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

  1. a personalized morning practice that sets you up for a day filled with more ease, joy and presence

  2. a system for connecting with yourself more deeply

  3. a workbook full of journaling prompts and ideas to inspire you as you continue on your mindfulness journey!

Can’t wait to practice together on the first Sunday of 2022! January 2nd! 1/2/22!

10 AM-12PM EST

This workshop is $47

and if you invite a friend who could be your 2022 morning mindfulness practice accountability buddy they come for free!

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

187a5707-0892-4464-9567-5e8ae4b76dde.jpg

Mindfulness Based CBT

Each week you will learn new mindfulness practices, have time to ask questions and share your progress with the group, and have worksheets and recorded guided meditations to help guide you in the days between class.

Examples of mindfulness exercises include eating meditation, body scan meditation, mindful breathing, mindful movement, walking meditation and more. We’ll also be using worksheets to track moods and thoughts and set up a system to prevent difficult moods from getting worse.

This course is designed to set you up for success so that after the 8 weeks you feel confident in your ability to keep up a daily mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy was developed for treating depression and studies have shown it to be as effective as antidepressant medication in its ability to prevent future episodes of depression! It is now also commonly used for anxiety, really any form of emotional dysregulation, chronic pain and/or for dealing with unwanted moods. It’s also great for anyone who just wants to shift their relationship to themselves.

Participants will have to set aside about 20-60 minutes total a day, 5-6 days a week(can be spread out in 15 minute increments- doesn’t have to be a whole hour at once) to practice the skills taught in the class. You’ll have worksheets and guided meditations to guide your practice. The goal is that eventually these skills become second nature and are easily integrated into your life.

$60/session or in-network with NYU Wellfleet health insurance.

Finding Ease in Difficult Times- a 4 week group

October Finding EAse in Difficult Times FLyer.png

Starting October 15th every Thursday for 4 weeks 5:30-7PM.

Each week over the course of 90 minutes we will create space to check in with mind/body/spirit and uncover inner resources that will help you navigate difficult moments and life transitions with ease.

What we'll do:

🌀Somatic journaling: a technique that allows you to develop a more intimate relationship with your body through answering questions such as "what in my body lets me know I feel ease?" and "what in my body lets me know I feel stress"?

🌀Stream of consciousness journaling: a freeing process of non-judgmental and uncensored introspection.

🌀Mindfulness meditation: a meditation technique where you observe your present moment experience without judgement and with kindness and compassion.

🌀Yin yoga: a yoga practice that applies pressure and tension to tendons, fascia and ligaments through holding poses while remaining still for 3-5 minutes as a way to unblock stagnant energy. When we apply mindfulness meditation to a yin yoga practice we learn how to find ease amidst discomfort, we create the perfect conditions for introspection, we learn to listen to the body's messages with compassion, and surrender to what is. Although there can be discomfort during the practice this is ultimately a deeply relaxing and restorative practice.

🌀Conversation: in conversation you will have the opportunity to express and share the challenges you have been experiencing, ask questions about and explore what we're learning in this group, and connect with others who may be going through something similar.

E-mail eve@byrepose.com for questions.

Connect+Create: Zoom Edition!

I bet you’re feeling it too. The eye-strain and tension headache, the stiffness from sitting for too long, the energetic heaviness that leaves us feeling on edge, spacey or just plain exhausted.

And it’s not only the physical response; replacing activities we’re used to doing face-to-face with a two dimensional 13-inch screen can take a huge toll on our emotional health and creative energy.

In this two-part workshop, Eve Marie Mugar and I will guide participants through an exploration of our relationships to screens and devices, by tapping into our bodies, our creativity, and the unshakeable strength of human connection.

The workshop will draw from yoga, breath-work and art therapy to reveal the limitations and potentials of our lives “inside the box”, and equip participants with tools for becoming more grounded as we move forward collectively in a time of isolation.

Schedule:
Friday 6/5, 7-830pm: Yoga, Breath-work & Writing

Saturday 6/6, DAY OFF: Creative Assignment

Sunday 6/7, 2-330pm: Community Embodiment work & creative sharing/reflection

COST: $35 (or message to discuss payment options if COVID has affected you financially)

Connect and Create: Accessing Creative Flow through Self and Community

Do you experience limiting beliefs that restrict you from living your life in a fully embodied way?
Perhaps there is something you've been dreaming of creating, but you are stuck in stasis mode, uninspired and unmotivated to bring your vision to fruition?
Or maybe you simply need an energetic shift and want to try something a little bit silly and unfamiliar!

Join Eve Marie Mugar and Emily Jeanne Brown for a three hour journey that begins with yoga and meditation to connect more deeply with the self, breath work and improvisational movement to explore connection with others, and culminates in a period of judgement-free collaborative creativity.

We believe everyone has innate creative power and some of us are just missing the tools we need to access it.

All that’s needed for this workshop is a willingness to get curious, to let go of judgment, and to have fun.
